Here is what I can relate,
I hold the wheel, I navigate
but someone else is captain of this trip
I should have known when they strapped me in
when we passed the moon and the air got thin
when gravity made me grin and grin
and time began to morph and spin
I’d been wined, dined, and romanced when

I should have known when I burnt those bras
that I would just end up on mars
waiting for Prince Charming’s ship to land
I grease and oil my self esteem
with ice cream cones and lean cuisine
and everyday I choose between
to save the world or keep it clean
I must have been in some kind of trance when

What was I wearing when
I put down the sword and picked up the pen
was it Cinderella’s crown or Steinem’s jeans?
where will I find the nerve
to reach out for what I deserve?
to chart my course and never swerve
