Good Kind

Good Kind of Love

At the center of my map
there’s a man and a little girl
and all of these colorful lines bring me back
to that place in the world
sometimes it’s a winding road
sometimes it’s in the air
sometimes the only thing I have are my dreams to take me there
so let that novel go unwritten
let the others play to win
it’s a good kind of love to be in

I used to be a romantic
I used to live from day to day
I could charm you with my stories of the one that got away
but I’m not so sure contentment
likes those kind of affairs
she seems to be satisfied with my shopping lists and prayers
I’m counting sheep, and toes, and blessings
and the laugh lines in my grin
it’s a good kind of love to be in

all that stuff they tell you
all turns out to be true
but it doesn’t make much sense until it happens to you
Though it may not be perfection
it’s the next of kin
it’s a good kind of love to be in
